Siwalik Fossil Park, Saketi, Sirmur District

The Siwalik Fossil park displays a rich collection of vertebrate fossils recovered from the Siwalik rocks of the area of Plio-Pleistocene age. The deposition of Siwalik sediments took place in the narrow linear depression, called the 'fore deep', which started developing in front of the Himalayas since the inception of its uplift in the middle Miocene.

The tomb of Khwaja Pir was built in Tere Mein Shatabdi.

TOMB OF KHAWAJA PIR:

The tomb is said to have been built in the 13th century, in the memory of Khawaja Abdul Shankar. He was one of those who accompanied Muhammad Ghori to India and resided here. A mosque was built adjoining the tomb later during the 16th century. However, no remains of tomb or mosque are there. Guru Nanak Dev is said to have stayed here for 40 days at the tomb alongwith his disciples Bala and Mardana.

The Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change Bhupender Yadav on March 5th, 2022 launched awareness mascot 'Prakriti'& other green initiatives for effective plastic waste management.

• Under the month-long pan India drive, Operation Uplabdh, in March 2022, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested 1,459 touts out of which 341 were authorized Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) agents who were found to be indulged in the touting of railway tickets, said an official statement by the Railway Ministry.
