Topic : Education.

News:-The teachers forward a few proposals to improve the education curriculum at a meeting organised by SCERT, Punjab.

Some prominent points focused upon by the teachers during this meet are:-

1 Education should focus on inclusiveness and scientific temperament.

2. They also asserted that the mother tongue should be promoted as the medium of instruction.( Till class 5 th).

3 The pupil-teacher ratio ( PTR) should be 1 teacher for every 20 students in primary classes whereas it should be 1 for 30 in secondary classes

4. Every primary school shall have a permanent position of headteacher rather than a quick fix arrangement of appointing a subject teacher as an in-charge.

5. The Democratic Teachers Front ( DTF ) has also said that the government spending on education should be 10% of the state GDP.

6. The school syllabi should be designed to match the psychological level of the kids.

7. Also, the creativity and curiosity of the kids should be nurtured so that the future intellect could be honed to meet the needs of the future.
