News:- Social audit in engineering projects to enhance Transparency in governance.

 

• The proposal was forwarded by the Vigilance Bureau.
• This step would contribute further to the removal of corruption from the government ranks.

 

What is Social Audit?

• Social Audit’ is “a public assembly where all the details of a project are scrutinized”.
•  It is “a way of measuring, understanding, reporting and ultimately improving an organization’s/programme’s social and ethical performance”
• The first social audit of an organisation was carried out in Sweden (1985–88) by John Fry and Ulla Ressner, work-life researchers at the Centre for Swedish Working Life (Arbetslivscentrum) and published in Sweden in 1988 by Allmäna Förlaget, Stockholm (332pp) under the title “Social Revision av ett Ämbetsverk”.
• As per this proposal, citizen information boards containing vital information regarding any government work would be put up at work sites for information of citizens.
• Also, it would be mandatory for the departments concerned to post this information on their websites.

 News: -A workshop of Agri startups was held at the Regional Institute of Cooperative Management.

 

• “Agri starts-ups: Role of Innovation and Technology in Cooperative Development in India ” was the workshop, which was organised in Chandigarh.

 

The Workshop was organised by RICM, Chandigarh.

HAFED.

 

• In this workshop, it was Focused that Technological advancements in Agriculture are the need of the hour.
• Entrepreneurship in farming is also a domain where a lot of growth can occur.

News:- Punjab got 13th rank in the composite ranking for good governance index

 

• Tamil Nadu has bagged the top performer state rank in the index.
•  Maharashtra and Karnataka have bagged 2nd and 3rd ranks respectively in the rank.

 

 

In the North East and Hill category:- Himachal Pradesh has got the first rank.

 

In UTs:- Puducherry has come at the top.

 

Now, let’s have a look at the sector-wise Rankings:

 

1. Judicial and public security: Punjab has got 10rh rank in this.
2. Public Infrastructure: Punjab has got the 3rd rank in this category.
3. Chandigarh has topped in UT category.
4. Environment: Chandigarh has obtained the first rank among UT’s.
5. HRD: Himachal has garnered the first position in the North East and Hills category.
