News:- Punjab plans to set up Educational parks in the schools.

  • The state government plans to set up the educational parks in 220 schools in the state.
  • The purpose of such parks will be to mainstream the environment of creativity, self-learning and innovation.
  • This step of the government also seeks to develop the mathematical and scientific attitude and temper among the students.
  • The educational parks would vary in various schools as per their requirements and space available.
  • These parks would deal with various subjects and both Punjabi and English languages will be used.
  • The students would be encouraged to make the models out of fibre, cement, plastic and iron.
  • Both 2D and 3D type of models would be created.
  • Just like Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore had visualised about the education, a child should be nurtured in a way that its curiosity can be tapped as a resource.
  • A child’s imagination should be allowed to roam free and their creative potential should be encouraged.

Topic: Punjab Historic Heritage.

 

 

News:- Maharaja Ranjit Singh ‘s palace in Amritsar to be renovated and refurbished.

 

  • It is located in Ram Bagh in Amritsar.
  •  Punjab Heritage Tourism Promotion Board is looking after this renovation work.
  • The financial assistance of rupees 10.70 crores has also been obtained from the Asian Development Bank.
  • The building would be totally renovated and beautified, and the ambience of the palace would be recreated.
  • Quaint and historical furniture would be redesigned.
  • Mannequins would be placed to recreate the ambience of the palace.
  • The refurbishment of the palace can augur well for the tourism industry of Punjab.

 

The Ram Bagh palace:-

  • It was the summer palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
  • The palace is situated in the centre of a garden popularly known as Ram Bagh or Baradari.
  • The palace was constructed under the supervision of Faqir-Aziz-ul-Din, Desa Singh and Sardar Lehna Singh Majithia all having a close relationship with the Maharaja.
  • The red-stone work of all these buildings was executed by workmen brought from Delhi by Faqir-Aziz-ud-Din.
  • Maharaja Ranjit Singh had a deep interest in the development and beautification of various areas under his rule.
  •  Amritsar is the central hub of spiritual and cultural activities of the Sikh Empire and stronghold of Bhangi Misl got special attention of Ranjit Singh.
  • He used to visit the Amritsar city on occasions of Vaisakhi, Vijayadashami and Diwali etc. Therefore, he made a beautiful garden on the Mughal pattern of Shalimar Gardens, Lahore.
