News:-Master plans of 3 Industrial zones have been approved by the government.
Background: -A meeting of the Punjab Regional and Town planning Development Board took place, which has taken a few decisions regarding the formation of Industrial zones.
Amendments have been approved to:-
- Roopnagar Master plan. , So that an industrial zone along Roopnagar- Chandigarh could be built.
- Similarly, Kapurthala development plan has also been approved.
- The residential colonies would be developed near Kapurthala, opposite Rail Coach Factory.
- The Punjab government is giving a push to Industrial development in the state.
- Close proximity to the International Airport at Mohali is also a reason that Industrial development zones are being planned near Roopnagar.

News:- World Bank to give rupees 2130 crore soft loan to Punjab.
- In the next three months, the World Bank would provide $ 300 million to the state.
- This would be a relief to the Punjab government as most of its resources get utilised in the debt servicing.
- Now, some funds could be utilised for the development works.
- Around 30000 crore rupees would be spent by the government of Punjab this year for servicing the debt of rupees 2.29 lakh crore.
- Around 38.6% of the state’s revenue receipts go for debt servicing.
- The structural measures or reforms to avail the soft loan from the World Bank are already underway.
- Reforms in the power sector, water supply and sanitation, governance etc are being undertaken.
- Discussions are also on to promote Agricultural diversification in the state so that environmental integrity could be maintained.
- In the Finance domain, The Punjab Transparency in Public Procurement Act has been launched by the Punjab government for improving financial governance.

- Best High school – Government High School, Hira Wali ( Fazilka).
- Government senior secondary school category- GSSS, Karandi ( Mansa).
- Middle schools- Government elementary school ( GES ), Rattoke ( Sangrur).
- The result was prepared from the feedback of 3522 middle, 1738 high and 20152 senior secondary schools in the state.
- Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts have fared poorly in this study.
- The rankings have been based on parameters such as:
- School results.
- Infrastructure.
- Extracurricular activities.
- Attendance of students.
- Sports. Etc
