News:- Ecosikh group vows to work for ecological restoration in India.
About Ecosikh Group:-
- The Ecosikh group, based in the USA has been working to fight the Climate change crisis in the state of Punjab.
- It has already planted 120 mini forests of 550 trees of native species in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Jammu and Chandigarh.
- They plan to plant 1 million trees to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
About Ecosikh:
- EcoSikh is the Sikh community’s contribution to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Alliance of Religions and Conservation (ARC) Plans for Generational Change Project.
- It aims to help the world’s major religious traditions create long-term plans to improve its relationship with the environment.
- The new project works with all the major world religions to offer a faith-based response to the challenges of global climate change.
- Ecosikh was organised in 2009.
- Baba Sewa Singh and Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal have pioneered this movement.
- They had launched Guru Nanak 550 campaign to plant 1 million trees at 1820 global spots.

News:- 14th edition of the 5-day Punjab International Trade Expo ( PITEX) takes off at Amritsar.
In this expo, a total of 500 exhibitors would set up their stalls.
- Many countries such as Afghanistan, Turkey, Egypt, Thailand etc would also participate in the expo.
- Many states of India such as Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, North Eastern States etc.
- The government departments such as GMADA, PEDA, MILKFED, PSIEC, NABARD, KHADI AND VILLAGE INDUSTRIES COMMISSION etc would also participate.
- But this year, Pakistani exhibitors have not turned up due to the bilateral tensions between India and Pakistan.
- The Pakistani participants have alleged that the Indian authorities are not issuing them visas.
- Pakistan had been participating in the expo till 2015.

News:- A proper system for hiring vehicles during raids to be followed from now onwards.
Background: the accusations have been made that policemen pressurize the complainants to pay for the vehicles during a raid.
- But the Honorable High Court of Punjab and Haryana have ordered that the investigating officer should mention the vehicle number and it’s detailed, whether private or public, in the FIR.
- The permission from DCP or SSP would be required for the usage of a private vehicle during the raids.
- The shortage of vehicles in the Police department is a glaring issue.
- Due to this issue, using private vehicles has been observed.
