News:-FSSAI to tie up with Punjab dairy farmers to check milk adulteration.
- The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ( FSSAI) has come up with Verified Milk Vendor Scheme to cover the milk suppliers.
- The vendors would be asked to voluntarily register for this Scheme.
- They would be provided with the lactometers to test the ingredients.
- Through digital governance and the regular tracking of adulteration prone areas, the stringent action could be taken.
- Also, the FSSAI has launched a pilot project to train Punjab farmers in the field of best farming practices.
- The initiatives have been launched on the occasion of National Milk Day.
- 26 th November is celebrated as the National Milk Day to mark the birth anniversary of The Milk genius of India, dr.Verghese Kurien.
