What is the news?
- 82% water samples fail potability test in Muktsar.
Situation grim in Gidderbaha, Malout:
- As per the Health Dept records, all 20 water samples of Gidderbaha block and 13 Malout blocks failed the test.
- Further, 27 of total 31 water samples failed the test in Muktsar block and 54 of 75 samples failed in Alamwala block.
Challenges:
- The total dissolved solids (TDS) level in water is also high in some parts. Besides, mixing of sewage in water supply pipelines is also an issue.
What is TDS of Water?
- TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids and refers to the total concentration of dissolved substances in drinking water. TDS comprises inorganic salts and a small amount of organic matter as well.

- 300 units of free electricity from July 1.
- There will be no increase in the rates of industrial and commercial electricity connections.
- The pending bills of families with loads up to 2 kw will be waived (until December 21, 2021).
- Fulfilling his major poll promise, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announces, 300 units free power from July 1.
- No hike in rates of industrial and commercial power connections.
- Pending bills (till 21 Dec’21) of families having load upto 2 kw to be waived off.
