What is the name of the Scheme?

• Punjab Divyangjan Shaktikaran Yojana (PDSY) 2022 for Persons with Disabilities.

The new Punjab Disabled Empowerment Scheme would be implemented in a phase wise manner:

• As part of Phase 1 of Punjab Divyangjan Shaktikaran Yojana, the program will focus on providing people with disabilities with the benefits of existing programs managed by departments. This would include services, benefits and entitlements related to health care, education, employment, security and dignity in all areas of life.

Phase 2 of Punjab Divyangjan Shaktikaran Yojana:

• Phase-II of the PDSY shall have new initiatives and programs. These new initiatives will cover those aspects and needs which have not been covered under any existing centrally/state sponsored scheme or PwD-oriented schemes by different departments. The program emphasizes the alignment and integration of existing programs and programs to maximize benefits for persons with disabilities. During Phase 2 of the PDSY program, the 13 interventions include:-
• Treatment of suffering a disability
  Mobility aids
  Assistive devices
  Five days of special leave in a calendar year
  Free education
  Empowerment of disabled girl students
  Recreational activities
  Homeschooling for children with special needs
  State award for outstanding work done by teachers with disabilities.

Implementation of Punjab Divyangjan Shaktikaran Yojana:

• A consultative group headed by the Minister of Social Security and Women and Child Development, composed of all ministers, will oversee the implementation of the program.
• Under the supervision of all these members, the state government wants to successfully implement the Punjab Divyangjan Shaktikaran Yojana for the welfare of handicapped persons.
