What is the news?
- The Animal Production Management Department at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) has organized a three-day training program on scientific pig farming for the Scheduled Caste farmers of Punjab under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) 12-B scheme.
Purpose:
- The training program, which involved 15 pig farmers, was coordinated by Kulvinder Singh Sandhu and Subhash Chandra under the supervision of course manager and department head Yashpal Singh.
- The trainees learned the scientific aspects of breeds, accommodation and nutrition, in addition to the health of the pigs.
- Farmers made an exhibition trip to the university’s pig farm to learn about day-to-day practices and activities, such as handling, temperature recording and cutting needle teeth.
- Director of student welfare Satyavan Rampal gave away the certificates to the trainees.
- He said this training will give pig farmers scientific expertise to improve their incomes and produce quality meat for the market. Academic products such as 25 kg packages of starter foods and mineral blends were also given to farmers to encourage scientific feeding.
