News:- An open University to mark the 550th Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Ji to come up at Patiala.

Mode of Education:-

• Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Patiala State open University would seek to provide online courses to the students.

Aim:-

• It would aim to provide inclusive and quality education to all the sections of the population.
• It would cover the uncovered population. Village folk, housewives etc would be included in its agenda.

 

News:- PUNJAB to start a 4-year strategic action plan for sustainable development.

When it would start?

• It would start in 2019 and go on till 2023

 

Purpose:-

• It would undertake sustainable development measures for the inclusive development of the state.

 

Departments involved:-

• It would encompass various departments such as Social security, Child development and women welfare, Transport, industry and Commerce and cooperation etc..

 

1. The plan would be integrated with the state budget also.
2. The plan is well in sync with the 2030 Sustainable development Goals.

 

 

News:-  Punjab cabinet takes certain key decisions

As per the recommendation of a cabinet sub-committee, the fee structure of private health sector Universities in the state would be regulated.

 Which act will be amended due to this?

• Punjab private health sciences educational institutions act 2006 would be amended by an ordinance.

 

Provision:-

• The provision of the maximum period of continuous leave for 5 years for the civil services would be reduced by the government. The state civil services rules have been amended for the same.

 

 

News:-Punjab police (appointment of chairperson and members of complaints Authorities ) rules,2019 have been approved by the government.

Also, the appointment to the State Police Complaints Authority would be provided under the Punjab police act, 2007.

Composition:-

• An officer of the rank of Chief secretary or secretary to the government of India can be appointed as the chairman of SPCA.
• Other two could be from the rank of principal secretary or ADG or an expert from a social domain.
