Who will appoint the Chairperson and members?
- They will be appointed by the Governor on the basis of the majority of the recommendation f a selection committee.
Powers of Lokayukta?
- Lokayukta will have all powers of a civil court and it will also provide prosecution in case of a false complaint.
Who will come under this?
- Lokayukta in Punjab will be applicable to CM, Ministers, non-officials/officials of all public offices.

News:-Punjabi gets priority, made compulsory till Class X.
Context:-
- The Vidhan Sabha today passed a unanimous resolution for giving priority to Punjabi language and making it mandatory for all government and non-government schools to teach Punjabi till Class X.

News:-NGT: Implement waste management rules.
Context:-
- A three-member team of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) monitoring committee has directed all civic bodies of Moga district to ensure implementation of the solid waste management rules by March 31.
- Any municipal corporation, municipal council or Nagar panchayat failed to segregate waste at source by March 31, it would have to pay a hefty fine.
Last year achievement:-
- The committee has hailed the district, as rural areas here have become open defecation-free, and for bagging the first rank at the national level in Swachhata Darpan Rural Ranking-2019 under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
