About World Physiotherapy Day:-

  • World PT Day is observed to generate awareness about the crucial contribution physiotherapists make to society, enabling people to be mobile, well, and independent.
  • This is observed on 8 September. Designated in 1996, World PT Day is promoted by World Physiotherapy.

What is the news?

Which organisation declared this day?

  • UNESCO on 26 October 1966

 

About International Literacy Day:-

  • 8 September was declared international literacy day by UNESCO on 26 October 1966 at 14th session of UNESCO’s General Conference. It was celebrated for the first time in 1967.

 

Aim:-

  • It aims to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. Celebrations take place in several countries.

Topic:- Government Scheme(Gender Equality)

 

What is the news?

  • ‘Special 26’ girls to get JEE, NEET coaching in Kangra.
  • The Kangra administration aims to make a ‘Special 26’ team of girls from the district in the next two years. The administration has selected 26 poor girls from the district through an entrance test.
  • They will be given special coaching in the next two years so that they can get admission into top engineering and medical institutes of the country.

 

Under which scheme?

  • The plan had been conceived under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme of the government.

 

How did they select?

  • The girls were selected based on their Class X marks and the entrance test. Out of these 26 girls, 13 have opted for non-medical and 13 chose medical subjects.
