The central government approved a battalion of NDRF for Himachal.
- Chief Minister Shri Jairam Thakur Ji said that the Central Government has allocated Rs 454 crore for the upcoming financial year in the State Disaster Relief Fund, which is 158 per cent more than the previous year.
- The central government has also released Rs 50 crore to reduce the risk of landslides and earthquakes in the state.
Aim:-
- This project has been developed under a multi-sectoral structure with an aim to reduce the chances of risk in the state.
- The main objective of this project is to reduce various natural calamities like earthquake, landslide, flood and climate-induced hazards.
- The project also aims to reduce the loss of human life and assets in addition to the risk of disaster. He said that this project is also being supported by NITI Aayog.
About NDRF:-
- The National Disaster Response Force is a specialised force constituted “for the purpose of specialist response to a threatening disaster situation or disaster” under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
- The “Apex Body for Disaster Management” in India is the National Disaster Management Authority.
