Topic:- Development of Urban areas in Budget 2020-21

 

 

What is the topic for discussion?

 

  • Proper provision for urban areas in budget 2020-21.

 

Let’s read:-

 

1. The market will be available for sale of products by women of self-help groups
  • The Chief Minister has said that the process of linking them with e-Market / e-Commerce Platforms will be initiated for the sale of products being produced by women self-help groups in urban areas. This will make the market available to these groups to sell their produce at a reasonable price.

 

2. Under the Deen Dayal Antodaya Yojna-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) in 2020-21, 1,000 beneficiaries will be trained in plumbing and 500 workers will be provided wage employment. The work of construction of new township in Dharamshala, Jathia Devi and Dehra by Hamuda is in progress.

 

3.Budget provision of 100 crores for smart city mission.

 

4. Government of Himachal Pradesh has instituted “Atal Shrestha Shahar Puraskar”. The award has yielded positive results. The Chief Minister has announced to expand the perimeter of this award. For this purpose, first, second and third prizes will be given for city councils and Nagar panchayats.

 

5. Planning / Special Areas and ULBs ESA Himachal Pradesh Town & Country Planning Rules, 2014 (amended up to 2016) Under the provisions, the State Government will consider giving powers to the approved architects for residential plots up to 500 square meters.

  • Section 144 imposed in Kangra amid Covid scare

  • Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, Rakesh Prajapati has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC on Kangra district amid coronavirus (Covid-19) scare.

 

What does it convey?

 

  • Any gathering of four or more persons in one place becomes illegal now.
  • DC said the order had been issued following the government order to ban gatherings. The government yesterday ordered the closure of all schools and colleges till March 31.

 

Challenge:-

  • DC said it had come to his notice that some people, who had returned from abroad, were not declaring the travel details before the administration.
  • They would be prosecuted under Section 270 of the IPC.

 

What does Section 270 of the IPC say?

  • According to section 270 of Indian penal code, Whoever malignantly does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.

  • 2 key roads to be upgraded in HP.

 

Which are these roads?

 

  • The roads are Hamirpur-Mandi via Sarkaghat (105 km) and Paonta Sahib-Shillai-Gumma (109 km).

 

How this will be helpful?

  • The roads will help reduce the distance between Hamirpur and Mandi district and Sirmaur and Shimla districts.
  • The Centre has approved the upgrade of two roads at a cost of Rs 2,700 crore under the Green National Highway corridor projects, which will restrict carbon emissions and contain ecological disasters.
