News:-National bureau gives ‘unique species’ tag to Pahari cow

  • Govt seeks to name it as ‘Gauri’ I Buffalo breed was also registered as ‘Gojri’.

 

Context:-The Himachali cow has been registered as a unique species with different traits by the National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal. The bureau also registered it as Himachali Pahari cow.

 

Important:-

  • Milk yield of Pahari cow though was low, yet very rich in amino acids.
  • The protein found in the milk of Pahari cow was considered good for diabetics and also fights other diseases.

 

About National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources:-

  • Established on 21st September 1984 at Bangalore in the form of twin institutes namely National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources and National Institute of Animal Genetics and then shifted to Karnal in 1985, the two institutes were merged to function as a single entity in the form of National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR) in 1995.
  • This premier institute is dedicated to working with its mandate of identification, evaluation, characterization, conservation and utilization of livestock and poultry genetic resources of the country.

News:-Sawra Kuddu project to start power generation by April.

 

Context:-After running seven years behind schedule, the first unit of 111 MW Sawra Kuddu Hydroelectric Project in Shimla district will start generating power by April, Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL).

  • The project comprises a diversion barrage on the Pabbar river near Hatkoti and underground powerhouse on the left bank of the river near Snail village.

News:-Chief Minister offered special worship at tarna Mata temple and wished for happiness and prosperity from Mata rani to the citizens.

 

Let’s learn about Tarna Mata Temple:-

 

  • Tarna Devi temple is a famous Hindu temple. It is situated on the Tarna hill in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh. This Temple is dedicated to goddess Shyama Devi, which is the avatar of goddess Parvathi. King Shyam Sen has constructed this temple.
  • According to history, The king Shyam Sen (Ruler of Mandi) Was abuse by King Jit Sen (Ruler of Suket). King Shyam Sen getting angry and attack the Kindom of Suket. King Shyam Sen blessed the kali to be victorious in the battle. After getting the victory from the battle this temple was dedicated to the goddess.
  • Shyama Kali temple is a beautiful piece of Architecture built-in red and white stones. The  Walls of the shrine are embellished with beautiful paintings of Lord Shiva, Goddess Kali and Gurus. The temple can be reached by climbing over 305 stair path from the main bazaar. This temple is placed on the top of the hill the entire town is seen from the top of this temple. The dense forest that bounds the temple provides a scenic beauty to this sacred shrine. The temple is the centre of attraction for Hindu devotees who come here to seek the blessings of the divine goddess.
  •  Shyama temple has beautiful architecture. This temple was built by using red and white stones. Wall of the shrine has a wonderful painting of Lord Shiva, Goddess Kali and Gurus. This temple was built on the top of the hill. We can see the entire village from the top of the hill. This temple was bound by the dense of the forest it enhances the beauty of the temple. This is the attraction for all Hindu devotees who come and get the blessings from the divine goddess.

News:-Chief Minister Shri Jairam Thakur Ji participated in a function organized at Vallabh government college Mandi.

  • During this time he launched the “Virtual Classroom” plan.
  • Chief Minister also distributed laptops to meritorious students under the scheme.

 

Virtual Classroom Scheme:-

  • Under the Virtual Classroom Programme, the State will provide satellite-connected learning to 280 schools and four District Institutes of Education Training (DIET). There would be four schools in each legislative constituency in the State.

 

What is Virtual Classroom?

  • A virtual classroom is an online learning environment that allows for live interaction between the tutor and the learners as they are participating in learning activities. In other words, the virtual classroom is a shared online space where the learners and the tutor work together simultaneously.
