What is the news?

• Himachal Pradesh received a score of 99.77, which was the highest in the CCTNS PRAGATI ranking for January, according to a press release from the state police.
• With a score of 99.01, Uttar Pradesh took second place, ahead of Gujarat (97.08), Delhi (96.72), Haryana (96.40), and Uttar Pradesh (99.01).

About Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS):

• The CCTNS is a central government-funded Mission Mode Project with the goal of developing a comprehensive and integrated e-system to improve policing at all levels, particularly at the police station level.
• At 246 locations, including police stations and superintendents’ offices, the CCTNS is successfully in use. All FIRs are now electronically registered in CCTNS at all police stations instead of being manually registered in the state. According to the press release, charge sheets for cases are also submitted electronically. A spokeswoman for the Himachal Pradesh Police remarked, “We have accomplished this milestone by surpassing numerous advanced states that were previously leading the all-India CCTNS performance.
• Himachal met all the parameters and maintained its top position. The Himachal Pradesh Police has ranked first among the hilly and northeastern states for three years in a row since 2020.
• To decide the CCTNS project implementation, performance ranking of states and union territories, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Crime Records Bureau have set pre-decided parameters in PRAGATI.

What is the news?

• In a meeting with the representatives of Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Companies, Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu asked the companies to make Himachal specific prototype electric buses for the state in time bound manner, keeping in mind various parameters like hilly terrain, loading capacity and luggage space. He further asked the companies to incorporate modern technology and ensure quality.

What is the purpose behind this?

• To achieve the goal of making Himachal Pradesh a ‘Green Energy State’ by the year 2025 and to reduce the carbon emission, the State Government intends to replace the fleet of diesel buses of HRTC with electric buses in a phased manner and intends to ply e-buses on inter district routes.

 

The Chief Minister said:

• A committee would be constituted to decide all the modalities and specifications for the proto type e-buses under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary.
• The State Government is committed to provide best and comfortable transportation services to the people of the State.
• He said that State Government is making earnest efforts to preserve and conserve the environment of the State and switching over to e-vehicles would be a milestone in this direction.

 

Initiated Projects:

• The State Government was planning to make Parwanoo-Nalagarh-Una-Hamirpur-Nadaun-Dehra highway as a ‘Clean and Green’ corridor and necessary infrastructure would be created in this regard, said Sh. Sukhu.
• State Transport Department is the first such department in the Country to switch over to electrical vehicles and it is the mandate of the State Government that other departments would also be provided e-vehicles in a phased manner.

• The Gobind Sagar Lake of the Sutlej river in the village of Androli in the district will host the 22nd All India Police Water Sports Championship from March 2 to 6. Sanjay Kundu, the director general of police (DGP) for Himachal Pradesh, said this while speaking to the media.

What is the theme of the championship?

• ‘Experience the Waters of Himachal Pradesh’.

DGP shared:

• One of the top water sports facilities in the area has been recognised as Androli. The state’s largely unrealized water sports potential will receive a boost from this event.
• This tournament will involve 460 personnel from 19 state and central police organisations, including 10 teams of female athletes. Together with 200, 500, and 1000 metre canoeing and kayaking events, there will be 500 and 2,000 metre rowing competitions.
