News:-With 750 complaints in 3 months, the anti-drug app gets popular.

Context:-The mobile app “Drug-Free Himachal”, launched by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on June 30, received over 750 inputs regarding selling and use of drugs.

How does this app work?

1. As the app does not reveal the identity of the complainant, more people are coming forward to report the illegal activities.
2. The app enables the complainants to report the suspects’ name, phone numbers, locations, photographs and any other available information without disclosing their identity and the complainant can inform the police about the drugs consignments, storage places, sale of drugs and persons involved in peddling.
3. The information is received at the centre set up by the police who inform the nearest police post and patrol vehicles and wherever the information is available, anti-social elements are nabbed. The police have got significant inputs on peddlers eyeing educational institutions.
