What is the news?

  • The Hamirpur district administration Hamirpur, in collaboration with NIT Hamirpur, has prepared a better battery-operated version of the trolley for transportation of oxygen cylinders.

 

Financial assistance:

  • For which financial assistance has been provided by the district administration.

 

Purpose:

  • The Deputy Commissioner said that it is often seen in hospitals that there is a lot of difficulty in transporting oxygen cylinders to patients.
  • To overcome this problem, the district administration had given an idea to the NIT to develop a trolley that could facilitate the transportation of oxygen cylinders to the patients. He said that this project has been taken up by the Industry Department under the CM Startup Scheme.
  • This trolley can travel up to 7 km in an hour and anyone can easily drive it.

What is the news?

  • Agreements for the construction of 500 MW Dugar Hydroelectric Project and 42 MW Baggi Hydro Electric Project were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here on Friday late evening.

About Projects:

 

Dugar Project:

  • It would be constructed by NHPC in Killar of Chamba district.
  • The estimated cost of Dugar Hydro Electric Project is Rs 3987.34 crore. He said that about Rs 59.81 crore would be contributed by the project developer under the Local Area Development Fund in the project affected area.
  • He said that the construction of this project would be completed in 71 months after the commencement of the work. The allotment of this hydroelectric power project was made to NHPC on 7th August, 2018 and the MoU was signed on 26th September, 2019. The Government of India gave technical approval to the detailed report of the project on 26th April, 2022.

 

Baggi project:

  • It would be constructed by the BBMB in Baggi of Mandi district.
  • The estimated cost of the Baggi Hydroelectric Project is Rs 284.87 crore. He said that 135.6 million Units of electricity would be generated annually from this project. Rs 4.21 crore would be contributed by the project developer under the Local Area Development Fund in the project affected area and the construction of this project would be completed in 30 months after the commencement of the work.
  • Baggi Hydroelectric Project was allotted to BBMB on 10th July, 2019 and the MoU was signed on 8th November, 2019.

 

Chief Minister said:

  • In the implementation contract of the projects, a provision has been made to provide 12% free electricity to the government from the Baggi Hydroelectric Project and 4% to 25% from the Duggar Hydro Electric Project for 70 years.
  • He said that 100 units of electricity per month would be provided to the affected families free of cost for 10 years.
  • He said that construction of these projects would provide direct employment to about 4300 people. He said that after the commissioning of these projects, the revenue from the sale of 1% additional electricity would be provided to the eligible families of the project affected area in cash till the life of the project.

  • Deputy Commissioner Debsweta Banik launches Mission Dronacharya program at NIT With the initiative of District Administration Hamirpur, the program was launched with mathematics, physics and chemistry subjects.

The Deputy Commissioner said:

  • In order to empower the school students by providing quality education, the district administration is organizing a capacity building program under the joint aegis of NIT, Higher Education and DIET.
  • The program is being organized with the financial support of Deputy Commissioner District Hamirpur.

 

About Mission Dronacharya program:

  • The program has been launched with three subjects mathematics, physics and chemistry.
  • The program has been named Mission Dronacharya. He said that if students have to become Arjuna, then teachers will also have to become Dronacharya and provide better education.

What is the news?

  • The 8th edition of the International Film Festival of Shimla started with the screening of 31 films here today.

 

 

Highlights:

  • A total of 86 films, including 27 in the international category, 34 Indian films, four Himachali films will be screened.
  • Films from 17 countries, including Canada, USA, Lebanon, Spain and Iran, will be screened.
  • About 50 film directors from across the country and abroad will be part of the film festival. They will interact with the audience at the Gaiety Theatre.
    The National Film Award winning Garhwali film ‘Sunpat’ directed by Rahul Rawat was the inaugural film to be screened at the function.
  • The film is based on the ghost villages of Uttarakhand that have been deserted as their residents have migrated to urban areas for better opportunities. The film tries to show the various socio-economic impacts of migration.

  • Named after the famous Gaiety Theater of London, this building was originally designed as the Town Hall.

  • It was built in 1887.

  • It was designed by Henry Irwin. Henry Irwin also designed the Viceregal Lodge that hosts the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies(IIAS) today.

  • The architectural style was neo-gothic and part of a revival of Gothic architecture that was occurring in Europe and other parts of the British Empire.

  • IPS officer Ashok Rattan took over as the first SP of the Nurpur police district here on Friday.

 

What he shared?

  • The new strategy would focus on coordination between the police, Mining Department and the district administration, he added.
  • He said, “To check illegal mining, inter-state boundaries along rivulets should be defined clearly. I will take up the issue with the district administration,” Rattan.

Why this Post is unique?

  • The new police district will have jurisdiction over four assembly constituencies which share borders with Punjab.
  • After Baddi, this would be the second police district in the state. He also announced a separate circle of HP state electricity board at Nurpur which would also cater to the area of these four assembly constituencies.

What is the news?

  • The state government will launch a sex-sorted semen (SSS) project under the artificial insemination program to ensure the birth of female calves to enhance milk production and fast-track profits of dairy farmers.

What is sex-sorted semen?

  • Sex Shortened Semen is a tech-based American artificial insemination technique. Which is considered as the architect of the New White Revolution in the country. This US technique is seen as guaranteeing the birth of a heifer. According to experts, sperm shortened by sex is given by artificial insemination, where up to 90% of the cow’s calf is guaranteed.

 

It will be used in each Himachal district:

  • The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to use sex-sorted semen technology in every district as part of its plan to increase production in the state. According to State Animal Husbandry Minister Virendra Kunwar, the state government will start a sex-sorted semen project under the artificial insemination program. To ensure the birth of female calves to increase milk production and to accelerate the profits of dairy farmers.

 

Under which Program this project has been sanctioned?

  • The Animal Husbandry Minister said that the Central Government’s Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) had approved the project under the Accelerated Breed Improvement Program of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission and a grant of Rs 8.42 crore was released to the state.

 

State obtained 20 thousand doses, birth target of best breed cows and buffaloes:

  • Animal Husbandry Minister in Himachal Pradesh Government Virendra Kunwar said that the first consignment of 20,000 doses of sex-sorted semen has been procured. Whose sample has been sent to a Hyderabad laboratory for ‘X’ chromosome verification. He said that after receiving the report from the lab, the seamen would be put for use. The minister said that under the program, the first insemination in cows and buffaloes will be done next month and the target has been set to produce improved breeds like Gir, Sahiwal, cross-bred Jersey and cross-bred Holstein Friesian.

 

Farmers will get a dose of semen in subsidy:

  • The dose of sex-sorted semen will be available on subsidy to the farmers of the state. The Animal Husbandry Minister said that a dose of sex-sorted semen costs Rs 675 and the government will provide it to dairy farmers at Rs 125 per dose. The remaining Rs 425 per dose will be borne by the central government. He said that Himachal Pradesh Livestock and Poultry Development Board would provide additional subsidy of Rs.125 per dose.
