- International literature festival ‘Unmesha’.
Who organized this?
- The festival is being organized by the Union Ministry of Culture and the Sahitya Akademi with support of the state Department of Art and Culture as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations from June 16 to 18.
Where will this be organized?
- The festival will be organized in the heritage buildings of the Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex and the Town Hall at the Ridge.
“Largest in the country”:
- 1,000 books on freedom movement to be displayed.
425 writers, poets, translators, critics from 15 countries, representing over 60 languages.

- Mandi district awarded for skill development.
Who gave this award?
- The Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship of the Union awarded a “Certificate of Excellence” to the District of Mandi for 2020-2021 District Skills Development Planning.
Why is it important for the examination?
- Mandi was the only district from the state to make it to the best 30 districts selected from across the country.

What is the news?
- Chamba aims to insure crops of 60k farmers.
Under which scheme?
- In a step to insure the farmers’ crop against damages dues to natural calamities and accidents, Chamba Deputy Commissioner (DC) DC Rana in a recent meeting directed officials to apprise agriculturists about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
Purpose:
- The district aims to reach more than 60,000 farmers in the district under the scheme.
About Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY):
- The PMFBY is being run to compensate the loss of standing crops due to natural calamities like water logging, hailstorm, landslide, cloudburst and fire due to sky lightning.
- PMFBY is very simple for farmers holding Kisan Credit Cards as they neither have to go to the bank or government offices to get the crop insured nor to get the compensation for damages caused by natural calamities.
