What is the news?

• Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur launched laptop distribution program to provide free laptops to about 20,000 meritorious students of the State.

It is distributed under which scheme?

• Under Srinivasa Ramanujan Student Digital Scheme.

What CM shared?

• The State Government was giving topmost priority to provide quality education to the students, with special focus on education of girl students.
• The Chief Minister said that the students were the future of the Nation and thus it was vital to focus on their education. He said that the laptops provided by the State Government to the students would go a long way in assisting the students in their studies.
• 16 per cent of the total State Budget has been allocated to the education sector during the current year’s budget. He said that the Union Government has brought in the National Education Policy-2020 to make education more career-oriented.

Other States are doing this?

• Odisha government too is giving free laptop scheme under the Biju Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana.
