What is the news?

  • A state-level awareness program will be organized in Shimla on the occasion of the International Drug Prevention Day on June 26.

 

Purpose:

  • To raise awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and substances.

 

Who will organize?

  • The program will be organized by the State Taxes and Excise Department and Himachal Pradesh Drug Prevention Board in collaboration with various departments.

Importance: Himachal HPAS Prelims and Mains

 

What is the news?

  • Seven new mandis of Himachal Pradesh will be linked to e-NAM scheme.
  • Approval has been received from the Central Government to link seven new mandis with e-NAM.
  • An amount of Rs. 2 crore 10 lakh will also be released to Himachal by the central government to connect the mandis with the e-NAM scheme.

 

State Marketing Board Chairman Baldev Singh informed that:

  • Submandi Mehandli and Upmandi Kharapathar from Shimla district.
  • Upmandi Tapri of Kinnaur district.
  • Dhanotu and Submandi Chailchowk Submandi of district Mandi and Baijnath sub Mandi of Kangra district will be connected with e-NAM portal.

 

An amount of Rs 210 lakh will also be received from the Center for integrating these mandis with the e-National Agriculture Market.

This amount will be spent on the implementation of the scheme, computers, quality laboratories, establishment of Dharmakants etc.

Current Status:

  • Apart from this, an amount of Rs 190 lakh has been received for setting up of grading-packing value addition units for e-NAM Mandi Parala, Parwanoo, Bhattakufar and Rohru.
  • Already 19 mandis were integrated with e-NAM under e-NAM in the state. With the addition of new mandis, gardeners and farmers can take advantage of the scheme in a total of 26 mandis.
  • So far a total of 124407 farmers, 1976 traders and 65 agricultural producer groups have been registered. A total business of Rs 230.98 crore has been done under the e-NAM portal and this money has been transferred directly to the account of 16518 farmers under e-payment. Other farmers and gardeners of the state will also benefit from this scheme.

 

Important Point:

Prime Minister Award twice to Solan Mandi

  • e-National Agriculture Market e-NAM was launched on 14th April, 2016 by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
  • Under this scheme, the wholesale markets of the country were to be brought on a nationwide electronic platform, so that farmers and gardeners could get a fair price for their produce.
  • Under this scheme, Solan Mandi has been awarded the Prime Minister’s Award twice in the year 2017 and 2022 for providing excellent services.

 

What is eNAM Portal?

  • National Agriculture Market (eNAM) is a pan-India electronic trading portal which networks the existing APMC mandis to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities.
