What is the news?
- Under “Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan Yojana”, 1.71 lakh farmers have adopted natural farming in Himachal: Chief Minister.
- Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said this while presiding over the 12th biennial National Krishi Vigyan Kendra convention organized at Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry at Nauni in Solan district today. 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras from across the country and more than 1000 scientists and farmers from different states are participating in the two-day conference on Natural Farming and Other Sustainable Farming Techniques.
Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat ji also joined:
- On this occasion, Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat ji appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur for promoting natural farming. He said that during the first Green Revolution in India, India’s soil had 2.5 organic carbon and the present soil has less than 0.5 carbon, which is a matter of concern.
- He said that today the need of the hour is to adopt natural farming, which will not only improve the soil health but also increase the agricultural production, which will increase the economy of the farmers.
- On this occasion, the Governor also shared his personal views with the scientists regarding natural farming.
- The Governor and the Chief Minister also released the publications published by ICAR and various universities.
- A short film ‘Prakriti’ based on natural farming was also screened on the occasion.
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, while addressing the program from New Delhi through virtual medium, said that India has emerged as a leading state in the field of development in the world. He said that the need of the hour was to take the research done in laboratories to the fields.
About HP Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan Samman Yojana:
- Through HP Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan Samman Yojana, farmers will be taught to do farming without using chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Under this scheme, training is being given to 72,193 farmer families of 2934 panchayats out of 3226 of the state for natural farming. In which 9.61 lakh farmer families of the state will be brought under natural farming by 2022. The main goal of starting this scheme by the government is that the chemical fertilizers that are being cultivated in our country should be stopped and natural resources should be used in agriculture.
- With the operation of this scheme, natural farming will be strengthened in our country.
The main goal of launching Pratikriti Kheti Khushal Kisan Yojana by the government is to encourage natural farming.
The use of all chemical fertilizers and pesticides will be banned.
