What is the news?

  • Revealed in the survey of Health Department: 2.5 lakh people can become carriers of Thalassemia in Himachal
  • In the webinar organized by Umang Foundation, Padmashree Dr. Umesh Bharti told that 2020 samples were taken in 20 colleges of Himachal.
  • This has come to the fore. Himachal has become the first state in the country where such a survey has been conducted.

About Thalassemia:

  • Thalassemia is a genetically inherited blood disease in children from their parents. Due to disease, disturbances start in the hemoglobin production process in the body. However, this disease is recognized in five to six months after birth.
  • In such a situation, by screening for thalassemia before marriage, this genetic blood disorder, disease can be prevented from spreading. It is not an infectious disease. In this disease, the child becomes weak and he needs blood transfusion from time to time throughout his life.
  • Apart from this, medicines also have to be taken. There is no definite cure for this disease yet. People from Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra and Sirmaur are more likely to have malformed genes of Thalassemia.

What is the news?

  • Amit is the first civilian (civilian) of Himachal who has scaled the 8586 meter high Kangchenjunga peak.
  • He is the only Indian mountaineer who was representing India for the Kangchenjunga expedition.

 

About Kangchenjunga Peak:

The third highest mountain in the world is Kanchenjunga. It towers on the border between northeastern Nepal and Sikkim, India. Part of the eastern Himalayas, Kanchenjunga reaches 28,169 feet (8,586 meters) above sea level at its highest point. Only Mount Everest and K2 are higher.
