What is the news?
- Good news for women: Age limit for availing subsidy under Swavalamban scheme has been increased from 45 years to 50 years.
Who will be benefited?
- There is good news for all those women in Himachal Pradesh who want to make themselves self-sufficient by starting their own business.
Which government department have involved in this?
- The Industries Department has increased the age limit to 50 years for those women to take advantage of Mukhyamantri Swavalamban Yojana. Earlier this age limit was 45 years.
- Now the department will give the benefit of subsidy of 30 to 35 percent on loan to any woman up to 50 years of age to start her own business. The department is increasing the age limit for the third time to give the benefit of this scheme.
What was earlier?
- Earlier it was 40 years, then it was increased to 45 years, now the age limit has been raised to 50 years to give more benefits to women.
- 35% subsidy for SC ST and Divyang.
- Under the scheme, the department will give the benefit of subsidy of up to 35% on loans to SC, ST and Divyang women, while the general category women will get 30% subsidy till the age of 50 years. Women can take a loan of up to 1 crore from the department for 18 different works like beautician, sewing-embroidery, agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, on which the department will give subsidy up to 35%.

- So far 4138 industries have been set up in the state.
- So far 4138 units have been installed in the state under the scheme. In this, 11 thousand 174 people have got employment. People have also invested 684.67 crores. Rakesh Prajapati, Director, Industries Department said that to enable more and more people, especially women, to take advantage of this scheme, the department has increased the age limit of women from 45 to 50 years.

- Skill Development Corporation will run its chariot in all 68 assembly constituencies of the state from today.
How it will help?
- Through this, the corporation will connect the youth with it by contacting more and more people and making them aware of its plans, programs, and policies. During this time the corporation will cover more than 40 schools.
- 25 ITIs, corporation will go to all the headquarters and talk to the people and motivate them to get registered with the corporation. Will inform them about the courses started by the corporation, in which they will tell about the training being given to the children for free. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today flagged off this skill chariot of the corporation.
About Skill Development Corporation:
- Skill Development Corporation formed in 2015.
- The State Government had formed the Skill Development Corporation in 2015. Its purpose is to increase the skills of the youth and make them self-reliant. For this, the corporation is providing free vocational training to the youth. At present, the corporation has started 150 different courses, in which it is imparting training to the children. The corporation has started Kaushal Rath Yatra for the maximum youth of the state to join it and take advantage of it.
- 50 thousand youth has been registered.
- So far 50 thousand youth has been registered with the corporation in the state. Out of this, the corporation has given training to 32000. Certificates have been issued to 21000. After this the youth are either running their own business or doing jobs elsewhere.
- The Corporation’s Managing Director Kumud Singh said that through Kaushal Rath, he would connect with more and more people and make them aware of the programs of the Corporation, so that the skill development of the youth takes place.
