Importance: Himachal HPAS Prelims

 

What is the news?

  • Road safety, traffic regulations to be added to the Himachal school program.

 

In which grades?

  • To be provided from Class VI to Class X from this session.

 

Who undertook the initiative?

  • An initiative taken by the Transport Department, all schools under HP Board of School Education will have chapters on road safety and traffic rules from Class VI to X from the current academic session.

 

Who will design the study material?

  • The material has been designed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training. The chapters dwell on the issues like precautions on-footers and cyclists need to take, rules to drive a vehicle, meaning of signage on the road, penalties for violating traffic rules, effect of vehicular pollution on the environment, motor vehicle act, road safety and public participation, etc.

 

An objective shared by Hemis Negi, Additional Commissioner, Transport:

  • The idea is to make children aware of road safety and traffic rules at a young age. Once it becomes a part of their curriculum, they will study it seriously and follow the road safety and traffic rules instinctively.

Topic: New Industrial Area in Himachal

 

Importance: Himachal HPAS Prelims and Mains

 

What is the news?

  • This new area will be developed in Panjwana of Una district, which is a border area and a large number of industries can be set up here.
  • It is said that 150 acres of land is available with the Industries Department to set up a new industrial area here. This land has been made in the name of Industries Department.
  • So now there is no other formality. Here the condition of the roads will be improved, while bridges will be constructed and a complete environment will be created for the industries.
  • Infrastructural facilities in which electricity, water system will be made adequate, while the facilities of hospital etc. will also be strengthened.

 

Under which scheme it will make?

  • For this entire work, the Himachal government will need Rs 328 crore, which will be available to the state under PM Gatishakti Yojana.
  • Recently, talks have taken place in Delhi in this regard because there are schemes of the central government and they get money for industrial area development. Therefore, Himachal has also prepared the DPR of its project after talks.
