- Gaurav Sharma, a Parliamentarian of New Zealand, in an interview with The Tribune here today, said New Zealand could support more development projects in India and be a partner in its growth process.
What he said about Himahal?
- In Himachal Pradesh, New Zealand is helping research and development of high quality apple crops at Mashobra near Shimla. The project, funded by the World Bank, is worth 130 million USD. Gaurav Sharma, MP New Zealand.
- New Zealand supported in the establishment of the first AIIMS in New Delhi. He said there was a gap in communication and suggested that technology exchange programs should be encouraged between two nations.

- Raisina Dialogue.
- Gaurav, who hails from a Galore Hadeta village in the district, was in India on a specially invited by the Ministry of External Affairs for a Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi recently. It was his maiden visit to the home district after being elected to parliament of New Zealand. He was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) from Hamilton West in New Zealand on October 17, 2020.
- Pertinently, the Raisina Dialogue is India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, committed to addressing the most challenging issues facing the global community. Every year, leaders in politics, business, media and civil society converge in New Delhi to discuss the state of the world and explore opportunities for cooperation.
What is the purpose of Raisina Dialogue?
- The Dialogue will foster discussion on the role of institutions, the possibility of collective action and successful responses to these modern developments.

What is the news?
- A Weavers Service and Design Resource Center will be set up at Kullu in Himachal Pradesh.
Purpose:
- To provide a better platform to handicraft products for export in the international market.
- Union, Commerce, Industry and Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal said this during an interaction with handicrafts and handloom artisans under the Seva and Samarpan Abhiyan in Kullu on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of statehood to Himachal Pradesh.
- The minister said that Himachal Pradesh has immense potential for upgradation of handicrafts and skills of artisans and modern equipment.
- For this, training will be given to the artisans to prepare qualitative new designs in the Weavers Service Center. The Union Minister said that there is a need to pay more attention to modernization of design, quality, packaging and marketing so that weavers can get better price for their products in the international market.
