What is the news?
- Organized the first stakeholder workshop on short and long term State Energy Efficiency Action Plan for the state.
Who prepared this action Plan?
- The State Energy Efficiency Action Plan for Himachal Pradesh for the short and long term (by 2030) is being prepared by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM) in collaboration with the Department of Energy and under the aegis of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Union Ministry of Power. Under this, the first stakeholder workshop was organized today at the Energy Department, Shimla.
What was discussed?
- Subjects like Swarna Jayanti Energy Policy, 2021 Successful Implementation, Himachal Pradesh Electric Vehicle Policy, Successful Implementation of PAT Scheme, Implementation of ECBC, Energy Audit of Government Buildings, Hydrogen fuel usage were discussed in this workshop.
- It was also emphasized in the workshop that an action plan should be prepared listing the policies and their impact on the state of energy efficiency. After analyzing their impact, targets will be set for the state and efforts will be expedited to increase energy efficiency.
- Senior officials of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India participated in the workshop through a virtual medium.

What is the news?
- The Rare wild animal Himalayan Serow has once again been sighted in the Great Himalayan National Park. A survey team of the park management captured this wild animal in its camera.
Status of this species:
- The Himalayan serow, which is included in Schedule-I of Rare Wildlife, has been included in the Near Threat Category by the International Union for Conservation for Nature (IUCN).
- The IUCN has directed all officers and staff of the park manager to monitor the area for the conservation of this rare species so that it cannot be hunted by hunters for its meat.
- The park’s sub-divisional officer Nishant Mandotra said that the park management is serious about monitoring and conserving this rare species of animal.
About IUCN:
The International Union for Conservation of Nature is an international organization involved in the conservation of nature and the sustainable use of natural resources.
It is involved in data gathering and analysis, research, field projects, advocacy and education.

It divides species into nine categories: Not Evaluated, Data Deficient, Least Concern, Near Threatened, Vulnerable, Endangered, Critically Endangered, Extinct in the Wild and Extinct.
