What is the news?

  • Dharamsala: Board of Technical Education completely digital, will be able to apply online for the first time for re-evaluation.

 

Why important?

  • Himachal Pradesh Board of Technical Education Dharamshala is now completely digital.
  • The board has sought online applications from the students for the first time (revaluation), while its fees will also have to be deposited in the board’s account online.
  • Whereas earlier candidates had to apply through offline mode. According to the information, Himachal Pradesh Board of Technical Education has conducted regular and repeat examinations of first and third semesters, second and fourth semesters under N-12 scheme, and fourth and sixth semesters under N-17 was organized.

What is the news?

  • There will be no shortage in winter: Himachal’s first solar power project will generate electricity from August.

 

How this idea came?

  • Due to snowfall in Lahaul-Spiti, power lines are not repaired for several days. In this situation, as soon as the weather clears after snowfall, solar power will not disrupt the power supply in Kaza and its surrounding areas. Electricity will be generated locally only.

 

Where it will going to start?

  • Two MW solar power generation will start from August at Kaza in the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti in Himachal Pradesh. After obtaining forest clearances, the electricity board management has handed over the work to a private company.
  • The Board’s Managing Director Pankaj Dadhwal himself visited the spot and directed the private company to expedite the work. With the commencement of solar power generation, there will be no shortage of electricity in the Kaza region during the winter season.

With whom it will going to start?

  • The Electricity Board is going to set up this solar power project in association with the Solar Electric Corporation of the Government of India.

 

How this will work?

  • In this battery based project, electricity up to 1 MW will also be stored. Solar energy will also be distributed through transmission lines to other areas in case there is no power consumption in the region. Due to snowfall in the area, power lines are not repaired for several days.
  • In this situation, as soon as the weather clears after snowfall, solar power will not disrupt the power supply in Kaza and its surrounding areas. Electricity will be generated locally only. Told that by June 22/66 KV sub division would be ready at Pooh in Kinnaur. This will solve the problem of power cut.

What is the news?

  • Sirmaur: Rajgarh block’s initiative raises farm income in 33 panchayats.
  • Efficient livestock management has helped rural women in non-descript villages of Rajgarh subdivision of Sirmaur to enhance their income.

 

How they have achieved this?

  • Grihani ki Gaushala, an initiative of Rajgarh development block, has helped construct cowsheds for rural women, who had no other source of income. Women in 33 panchayats of Rajgarh have been provided with cowsheds designed keeping in mind various aspects such as health of the livestock and waste management.
  • The initiative, which kick-started in August 2021, has helped raise the income of women through the sale of milk and milk products such as butter. The higher sales have also helped women purchase more cows to further enhance their income.

 

Rajgarh Block Development Officer Arvind Guleria, who initiated the move, says:

  • The average landholding in Himachal is one hectare. To enhance farm income in rural areas, diversification is the key and one such scheme, Grihini ki Gaushala, which was floated in 2021, has brought a big change in the lives of rural women of Rajgarh. As many as 900 women have been provided with cowsheds in Rajgarh block.
  • The income of Palka Devi of Bhanat panchayat, who has availed of the benefit, has increased from Rs 2,500 to Rs 10,000 per month through the sale of dairy products.
  • Another beneficiary Sarla Devi of Bhuria panchayat now owns four cows after a cowshed having all facilities was provided to her. This has helped her increase farm income from Rs 4,000 to Rs 15,000 per month.
  • Labourers under the MGNREGA have helped in constructing 450 cowsheds. “Over 9,000 cowsheds have been sanctioned and we took it as a mission to help ameliorate the lot of rural women.

  • World’s highest tunnel to be built on Shinkula Pass: 4.250 km long tunnel to be completed in 3 and a half years.

 

Who will build?

  • BRO will build.

 

Which places it will connect?

  • The world’s highest tunnel will be built on the Shinkula Pass to connect the Union Territories of Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. This tunnel will be built at an altitude of 16580 feet above sea level. The Road Border Organization (BRO) will build this tunnel.

 

How it will help?

  • With the construction of this tunnel, along with connecting the two states, along with the Manali-Zanskar-Kargil route, the logistics of the army will be easily transported throughout the year. Because this route is closed during winters, but once the tunnel is built, this route will be the easiest for the army.
