- Una district will get National Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Empowerment Award.
Under which scheme?
- In Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Empowerment, Una district of Himachal Pradesh will get the first prize in the state. The award will be presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Pali, Jammu on April 24, on the Panchayati Raj Day. Under which scheme?
- The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has announced the awards for the year 2022 for the best performing Panchayats across the country. In this, Una district of Himachal Pradesh will get the first prize in the state in Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Empowerment. The award will be presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Pali, Jammu on April 24, on the Panchayati Raj Day.
How did it split?
- The National Panchayat Awards are divided into four categories. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Empowerment, Nanaji Deshmukh National Gaurav Gram Sabha Award, Gram Panchayat Development Scheme Award and Child Friendly Gram Panchayat Award.
Other districts of Himachal?
- Chamukha Panchayat of Sundernagar block of Mandi has been selected for Gram Panchayat Development Plan Award. Nanaji Deshmukh National Gaurav Gram Sabha Award will be given to Ghodpeeth Panchayat of Baijnath, Kangra. Daduhi Panchayat of Hamirpur will be given Child Friendly Gram Panchayat Award. Bilaspur Sadar Block Superintendent Manmohan said that everyone from Gram Panchayat to Zilla Parishad are selected for these awards. At the grassroots level, 12-page standards have been set for working in their respective fields.
About Panchayati Raj Day:
- National Panchayati Raj Day is the national day of Panchayati Raj System in India celebrated by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj on 24 April annually. Then Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh declared the first National Panchayati Raj Day on 24 April 2010.
Why 24th April as National Panchayati Raj Day?
- The Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992 that came into force with effect from 24th April, 1993 has vested constitutional status of Panchayati Raj institutions. This date, thus marks a defining moment in the history of decentralization of political power to the grassroots level.

- Sirmaur: Himachal Gaurav Award to Padmashree Vidyanand Saraik and Late Baba Iqbal Singh
- The General Administration of the State Government has issued a notification to nominate Padmashree Vidyanand Saraik, resident of Devthi Mazgaon and Late Baba Iqbal Singh, the founder of Kalgidhar Trust, for the Himachal Gaurav Award posthumously.

- This honor will be given to him by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on the occasion of Himachal Day at Chamba on 5th April.
About Himachal Gaurav Awards:
Himachal Gaurav Purskar was started in the 1992. Persons of either ‘sex’ in all walks of life are eligible for Himachal Gaurav Purskar. The Members of Armed Forces, Police Forces and the recognized Fire Services etc are eligible for the purskar provided the life saving act/ gallant work is performed by them otherwise than in the course of their duty. The award can also be conferred posthumously. The Person,/ Group of persons, who is to be decorated with the Himachal Gaurav Purskar should either be Himachali or the commendable job should have been done in/ for Himachal Pradesh.

What is the news?
- IT Minister Dr. Ramlal Markanda said that senior secondary schools and hospitals would be connected with Wi-Fi facility along with all the panchayats of the state. For this, the Union Minister has agreed to release 100% budget in Himachal Pradesh on the lines of Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
- Now Panchayats of Himachal Pradesh are going to connect with Wi-Fi facility. Although 1800 crores was approved for the state under the Bharat Network in 2018, 50 percent of the budget was to be spent by the central government and 50 percent by the state government.
