What is the news?

  • 217 sites identified for senior citizens’ parks in Himachal.
  • As part of the Panchavati Scheme, the parks are being developed over at least one bigha of land.

 

Important Point:

  • The state government builds parks and gardens with facilities for the elderly in every development block under MGNREGA through the Rural Development Department.

About Scheme:

  • Under the Panchavati scheme, the parks are being developed on at least one bigha of land. In these parks, ayurvedic and medicinal trees are planted through gram panchayats as well as recreational facilities, footpaths and entertainment facilities for the elderly.
  • Each park is being constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 8. 75 lakh, but the cost of construction can be increased depending on the geographic location of the area,” a government spokesman said.
  • In these parks, ayurvedic and medicinal trees are planted through gram panchayats as well as recreational facilities, footpaths and entertainment facilities for the elderly.
  • “Besides this, jogging walks, special places for yoga, meditation classes, toilets and solar lights are also provided in every park. The services of the technical wing of the Department of Rural Development are being built in these parks in rural areas.
  • These parks are being maintained through gram Panchayats,” the spokesperson said.
  • He said in the financial year 2020-21 with an expenditure of Rs 965 lakh, about 198 Panchavati parks were constructed or are underconstruction, whereas in 2021-22, about 217 locations were identified for the construction of these parks.
  • As many as 97 Panchavati parks would be constructed in Una district, 23 in Shimla district, 12 in Mandi district, eight in Kullu district, three in Lahaul-Spiti, four in Sirmaur district, seven in Solan district, 37 in Kangra district, six in Kinnaur district, 12 in Hamirpur district and four each in Bilaspur and Chamba districts.

What is the news?

  • Under the special campaign ‘ ‘meri policy, mere haath’ ( ‘मेरी पॉलिसी, मेरे हाथ’)’ launched by the Union agriculture ministry.

Purpose:

  • To take the benefits of pradhan mantri fasal bima yojana to more and more farmers, insurance policies for this rabi season 2021-22 will also be distributed to the farmers of hamirpur district.
  • Deputy Director of Agriculture dr atul dogra said Deputy Commissioner Debashweta Banik will launch the ‘meri policy, mere haath’ ( ‘मेरी पॉलिसी, मेरे हाथ’) campaign by distributing insurance policies to farmers at bachat bhawan hamirpur.
  • The deputy director informed that on this day, insurance policies will be distributed to the farmers by conducting special drives at the block level also.
