What is the news?
- Chairman of the 6th state finance commission, had expressed his gratitude to chief minister jai ram thakur for granting cabinet approval for setting up of an ethanol plant at jitpur behari in Una district.
What he shared?
- The ethanol plant project will boost the pace of development in the state and the use of ethanol will reduce pollution, which will help in the environment protection in the state.
- Major raw materials like rice and maize for ethanol production will be procured from kangra, hamirpur, bilaspur and una districts besides hoshiarpur and rupnagar districts of punjab.
What is Ethanol?
- Ethanol is a renewable biofuel, as it is derived from biomass. Ethanol is a clear, colourless alcohol made from a variety of biomass materials called feedstock (the feedstock used to make a product).
- Ethanol producers mainly use food grains and crops with high starch and sugar content as raw materials for producing ethanol such as corn, sorghum, barley, sugar cane and sugar beet.
- Ethanol can also be manufactured from grasses, trees and agricultural and forest residues such as corn cobs and stocks, rice straw, sawdust and wood chips. Ethanol comes from those feedstocks in many ways.
- Ethanol is an organic chemical compound. It is a simple alcohol with the chemical formula C₂H₆O. Its formula can be also written as CH ₃−CH ₂−OH or C ₂H ₅OH, and is often abbreviated as EtOH. Ethanol is a volatile, flammable, colorless liquid with a characteristic wine odor and pungent taste.

What is the Ethanol Plant?
- Bioethanol plants adapt to world requirements and can become a source of renewable energy.
- Bioethanol is obtained by converting raw materials based on sugar and starch which include molasses, cassava, maize, maize, rice, etc. Microbial fermentation, distillation and dewatering are some of the unit processes used to produce bio-ethanol.

Mandate Of Commission:
1. The main mandate of the commission as per H.P State Commission for Women Act,1996 is to improve the status and dignity of women in society, to investigate and take or suggest suitable measures against practices derogatory to women, to effectively monitor and implement laws affecting women and to advise the State Government.
2. The commission’s mandate also includes investigation and examination of all matters relating to the safe guards provided for women under the constitution and other laws. The commission is enjoying making recommendations for effective implementation of safeguards, which are necessary for improving the condition of women in the State.
3. The commission is promoting women’s rights , for gender equality and the empowerment of women in state .
4. This Commission also facilitates the participation of civil society representatives.

What is the news?
- The construction of the ethanol botanical park in kutlaihar will give a boost to tourism.
- Govind Sagar Lake located in the Kutlaihar area of District Una is a natural beauty, which remains the center of attraction of tourists. Now, with the efforts of the State Government, water sports and adventure activities are being started in the lake, the credit of which goes to the visionary thinking of cabinet minister Virendra Kanwar, whose continuous efforts have made it possible to successfully bring about the successful trial of water sports in the lake.
- For the convenience of tourists coming to enjoy the nagrisic beauty and water sports on the lake, a rural sanitary mart and the ethanol botanical park are being constructed at a cost of rs.7 crore at andrauli. The proposed park will have a modern construction of gift shop, sale centre, bo quarters, ticket centre, sanitation cafe, restaurant, tree house, toilets and large parking lots.
What is botanical park?
- A botanical garden is typically a well-maintained garden or park that contains many kinds of plants labeled with their botanical names.
- They can hold collections of particular types of plants, such as cacti, herb gardens, plants from certain parts of the world.

- Himachal Cabinet has taken important decisions in the interest of about 1.73 lakh pensioners and about 43,000 retired employees.
Now from 1 January, 2016 minimum pension and family pension will increase from Rs 3500 per month to Rs 9000 per month.
Millions of families will benefit from this decision of the government. - “Himachal Pradesh Golden Jubilee” scheme (Heritage Affairs Solution) 2021 has been launched by the state government for pending cases and arrears settlement under the acts included in goods and service tax.
