Prime Minister’s Agricultural Irrigation-Per Drop More Production Scheme will be helpful in rural prosperity.

In view of the continuous reduction in ground water, the government has implemented the scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana – Per drop more production’ for the farmers and gardeners, which will conserve water as well as increase agricultural production in non-irrigated areas. Prosperity can be brought to the rural areas.
Apart from this, rain water harvesting through water harvesting and water irrigation in areas dependent on rainwater for agriculture will also increase water conservation and ground water level.
Talking about the scheme, agriculture minister Virendra Kanwar said that the state government is emphasizing on making it popular in a big way to ensure the target of more crops per drop through this scheme so as to make proper water supply possible for crops on bumpy land in the geographical conditions of the state.
To achieve this target, farmers and gardeners are being given a 80 % grant to small and marginal farmers and gardeners for setting up micro irrigation drip and sprinkler system, while 45% grant has been provided to big farmers,spending on drip irrigation systems.

Micro irrigation scheme or drip irrigation scheme is a special irrigation method through which water is transported directly to the roots of plants.
In this, water is transported directly to the roots of the plants through drains at a small interval, which continuously provides water to the plants and does not cost much water. Pipes, valves, drain and emitters are used in this work.
In ordinary irrigation, most of the water that plants should get is steamed or goes underground through water leakage, which costs more water. This new irrigation system saves water and also supplies suitable water to the crop.
This method will provide water as well as fertilizer carnation directly to the roots of the plants through low pressure and control, thereby preventing loss of leaching and evaporation of nutrients.

The drip irrigation system can provide water to plants daily, so that water is always sufficient around the root.
This method maintains the proper amount of water and air in the ground leading to proper growth and quickness of plants.
Even in uneven, rough land where water cannot be easily transported, it will be possible to irrigate this method and produce more quality.
There will be control over crop diseases and weeds as well as saving up to 30% manure and reducing the cost of wages by 10%.

Minister Virendra Kanwar welcomes new sports policy says Jairam government’s big initiative for sportsperson’s
The cabinet passage of Himachal golden jubilee sports policy has been welcomed by minister of agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, rural development and panchayati raj Virendra Kanwar.
He said this policy is a big initiative to boost the morale of sportspersons as well as to inculcate sports talent.

Under the policy, a prize of rupees 3 crore for winning gold medals globally, rupees 2 crore on silver and rupees 1 crore on bronze, a prize of rupees 50 lakh for winning gold medals in asian games, rupees 30 lakh on silver and rupees 20 lakh on bronze will definitely encourage sports talent to progress in the game.
Through this policy, the provision of identifying and imparting high level training to sports talent at rural level by organizing talent search tournaments at school level in coordination and mutual cooperation of sports associations and education department is a commendable step of the government.
He expressed gratitude to chief minister Jairam Thakur for providing relief and encouragement to sportsperson’s, trainees and trainees by passing the Himachal diwas golden jubilee sports policy.
