News:-72 MoUs worth Rs8,071 crore signed in the tourism sector.
Context:-As many as 72 memoranda of understandings (MoUs) worth Rs 8,071 crore have been signed with various prospective entrepreneurs under tourism sector by the state government against the target of Rs 10,000 crore and these have been uploaded on ‘Himpragati’ website.
Upcoming plans of Himachal Pradesh Government:-
- A new tourism policy was being framed and was in the final stage. The focus of new policy would be on exploring virgin destinations in the state besides adopting a holistic approach to cope with the overcrowded tourist’s destinations like Shimla and Manali.
- New adventure sports rules, 2019 were being framed to promote and regulate adventure tourism whereas the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Sustainable Development Plan would be ready by the October this year which would ensure planned and systematic tourism development in the state.
- Janjehli area in Mandi district from eco-tourism point of view and a noted player in tourism sector Club Mahindra was setting up a tourist resort in Janjehli.
- Bir Billing in Kangra district would be developed as the destination of para-gliding and adventure sports and Rs 8.70 crore Para Gliding Training Institute was coming up at Bir Billing to facilitate the adventure sports lovers.
- Pong Dam in Kangra district was being developed under ‘Nai Rahein Nai Manjilein’ scheme as a water sports destination. Non-polluting vehicles like jetties, shikaras, houseboats and floating restaurants would be a key attraction of this destination.
- Chanshal area of Shimla district was being developed as the favoured destination for winter sports and skiing.
- Camping sites would be developed at Devidhar and Panjain, Bijahi, etc. In addition to this, an interpretation centre would be established at Bandal in proposed Baglamukhi Nature Park.

News:-Marathon in Kangra on Sep 11.
Context:-The Kanyakumari branch of Vivekananda Kendra in Kangra, is organising a ‘Universal Brotherhood Marathon’ scheduled to be held on September 11.
Purpose:-
- The marathon is organised in connection with the Universal Brotherhood Day as its annual feature to commemorate the historic speech of Swami Vivekananda delivered on September 11, 1893, in Chicago, USA.

Chief Minister Shri Jairam Thakur Ji has inaugurated three Government to Citizen Service (G2C) at Municipal Corporation Shimla yesterday.
What are these 3 Services:-
1) Garbage charges collection application.
2) Building planning application.
3) Rent and lease application through the state information technology department.
Objective:-
1) To make transparency in the working of the government, to ensure greater efficiency
2) Objectivity and speed in providing services and information to the people.
3) Eliminating the middlemen, providing a single window for all G2C Services at the Corporation level.
