What is the news?

  • Agribusiness management expert Vijay Paul Sharma of Una has been reappointed the chairman of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

 

What is the function of Agriculture Cost and Price Commission?

  • The Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices (CACP) is an attached office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. It came into existence in January 1965.
  • Currently, the Commission comprises a Chairman, Member Secretary, one Member (Official) and two Members (Non-Official). The non-official members are representatives of the farming community and usually have an active association with the farming community.
  • The Commission is a decentralized organization of the Government of India (GoI). It is an expert body that recommends minimum support prices (MSP) taking into consideration various factors.
  • CACP submits its recommendations to the government in the form of Price Policy Reports every year, separately for five groups of commodities, namely Kharif crops, Rabi crops, Sugarcane, Raw Jute and Copra.

What is the name of the scheme?

  • HP Unemployment Allowance Scheme or Berojgari Bhatta Yojana.

 

In HP Berojgari Bhatta Yojana, 10+2 or above educated eligible youth will get Rs. 1000 per month as unemployment allowance. All the physically challenged (having 50% or more permanent disability) unemployed youth will get Rs. 1500 per month.

 

Important:

  • It is imperative to note that the maximum duration for which HP Unemployment Allowance would be given is of 2 years.

 

Purpose:

  • The State Government has decided to launch the unemployment benefit scheme in order to financially help young people to get vocational training and employment. The state government is also working on providing skills training for these young people and creating jobs for them.

 

HP Berojgari Bhatta Yojana Eligibility Criteria (General):

  • An educated unemployed applicant shall be eligible for the grant of Unemployment Allowance, who fulfills the following criteria:
  • She/He should be unemployed (i.e. neither employed in Govt. Sector nor in private sector nor self employed) and should be Bonafide Himachali.
  • She/He should have passed minimum 10+2 from any Board/University/Institution recognized by H.P. Government.
  • He/She should be registered with any Employment Exchange in Himachal Pradesh as on the date of application for one year.
  • Her/His annual family income for the financial year immediately preceding the date of application, from all sources, including that spouse should be less than Rs. 2 Lakhs.
  • She/He should be above 20 years and below 35 years of age, as on date of application.
  • She/He should not be self employed.
  • He/She should not be dismissed Government Employee.
  • She/He should not be convicted of any offense resulting in imprisonment for a period of 48 hours or more.
  • She/He should not be a regular student pursuing any course.
  • He/She should not be availing Skill Development Allowance.

  • Sunil Kumar, a progressive farmer living in Rishikesh in Bilaspur district, was elected as the first flower ambassador for the Himachal Pradesh authorities.

 

Second:

  • Ashima Chauhan from Rohru of Shimla was crowned Winter Queen at the concluding ceremony of five-day long national Winter Carnival at Manali yesterday. She was awarded Rs 1,00,000 and a crown by the chief guest Education, Language, Art and Culture minister Govind Singh Thakur.

 

Third:

  • The five-day National Kabaddi Invitational Championship tournament concluded on a grand scale at Indira Maidan on Sunday. Deswal Kabaddi Academy – Delhi men’s team and Himachal Pradesh women’s team have emerged as the winners of the tournament.
  • In the final matches, the men’s team of Deswal Kabaddi Academy registered their title win against Haryana with a lead of 39 points.

 

Fourth:

  • Saksham Thakur of Manali Haripur College, Himachal Pradesh has brought laurels to the state at the national level by winning a silver medal in the All India Inter Universities Boxing Championship held at LPU, Jalandhar, Punjab.
  • The All India Inter Universities Boxing Championship were held from 22 December to 3 January, in which 13 players from Himachal Pradesh participated in different kg categories.
