What is the news?
- All out efforts would be made by the State Government to convert the CD Cooperative Credit Society Limited Gohar, Mandi into Bank and the discussion would be held by Centre government and RBI to resolve technicalities in this direction.
- This was said by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, while chairing the closing session of the 59th General Assembly of the CD Co-operative Credit Society Limited Gohar, Mandi today.
About CD Co-operative Credit Society Gohar:
- It started on 30 June 1957 under the name of the Chachiot Development Block Society and since then, this Society has created a special place for it the sector.
- The total business of the Society has reached Rs. 1500 crore, which speaks of its good work and commitment, he added.
- While appreciating the efforts of the Society, the Chief Minister said that the society has reached an important stage after completion of 64 years today and has 66,298 members. It is providing doorstep banking facility to its members in district Mandi.
- He said the Society has 49 branches and two extension boards and has disbursed loans worth more than Rs. 165 crore. He emphasized on strengthening the mechanism for recovery of loans.
- Jai Ram Thakur said that the cooperative was a strong sector, which has reached everywhere.
- This concept of working together, moving forward with mutual cooperation has always been present in our villages. The spirit of togetherness in good or bad and extending help to each other is the root of co-operation, which further took the form of a big movement.
What is Co-operative Credit Society?
- Credit unions are credit unions that are owned by their members and controlled by their members.
- The co-operative’s registration includes fewer documents than the others. Also, these societies do provide loans, to their members for economic and social growth.

- The local National Institute of Technology (NIT) was placed on the list of promising institutions by the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA)-2021.
Under which category?
- NIT, Hamirpur, had secured its place in the “Promising Brands” category for initiatives in patent filing, copyright, design, quality measures and implementation of NEP-2020 recommendations. The institute was successful in securing over 40 research and development projects in the previous session.
Who released this?
- Released by the Union Ministry of Education.
What is the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA)?
- The ARIIA is a joint initiative of the Union Ministry of Education (MoE), and the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to rank all major educational institutions on indicators related to innovation, start-up and entrepreneurship development among students and the faculty.

- Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated the five-day National Level Winter Carnival by offering prayers at Hadimba Temple in Manali and flagging off the Carnival Parade from the Circuit House Manali.
- He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of developmental projects of approximately Rs. 41 crore and also inaugurated the State Level Swarnim Van Mahotsav.
