What is the news?
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke today to the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav National Committee by video conference from New Delhi. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also attended the meeting virtually from Mandi.
Why it was celebrated?
- The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Festival celebrates the rapid progress India has made in the last 75 years.
- This festival encourages us to rediscover our hidden strengths and prompts us to take sincere and synergistic action to regain our rightful place in the courtesy of nations.
How it is going to celebrate in Himachal Pradesh?
- In the State of Himachal Pradesh, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was started on 12th March, 2021 from the Ridge Shimla.
- There are two state-level committees within which the state-level committee is headed by the chief minister and the chief secretary. Committees at the district level were set up under the responsibility of the respective Deputy Commissioners.
- Various programs were organized in different parts of the state to mark the occasion and 75 villages of the state had been selected as part of the Gaon Ki Kahani campaign.
Environment Initiative through this campaign:
- In order to make the state a plastic-free state, the state government decided to organize Plastic Swachhata Abhiyan in the state.
- State rural development organized events such as tree planting, Shramdan, Swachhata Samwad, Swachata Rath Yatra, Harit Gram Saptah etc. Likewise, other departments have also organized various events throughout the state to mark the occasion.

What is the news?
- Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated the Eat Right Mela at the historic Dhalpur ground in District Kullu today.
What he shared?
- While appreciating the Eat Right Mela Kullu, the Chief Minister said that a balanced diet is very important to lead a healthy life.
- Eating a balanced diet leads to the development of a good lifestyle.
- Several programs have been launched by the state government to provide a nutritional diet for children and women in the state.
- Under Supplemental Nutrition Program the government is providing supplementary nutrition to children in the age group of six months to six years, pregnant and lactating mothers and malnourished children through 18,925 Anganwadi centers in 78 development blocks of the state.
- The beneficiaries of the Supplemental Nutrition Program are also being benefited the Child Nutrition Top-up Scheme of the state government.
Under the nutrition campaign community based programs are also organized on 1st and 15th of every month in Anganwadi centers of the state. - Earlier, the Chief Minister visited the exhibitions set up by various departments, self-help groups and voluntary organizations.

What is the news?
- Deputy Commissioner, DC Rana asked officials to step up the Sunday Active Case Finding campaign for routine screening of tuberculosis (TB) patients in the Chamba district.
About Tuberculosis (TB):
- Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
- The bacteria usually attack the lungs, but TB bacteria can attack any part of the body, such as the kidney, spine, and brain. Not everyone infected with TB bacteria becomes sick.
- As a result, two TB-related conditions exist: latent TB infection (LTBI) and TB disease. If not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal.

What is the news?
- The Himachal Pradesh Education Department has adopted a cluster school system for optimum utilisation of manpower and infrastructure to achieve the goal of quality education and notified 1023 clusters with enrollment of 4, 97,631.
What is a cluster school system?
- The grouping of schools in the same geographic location aimed at improving the quality and relevance of teaching in schools.
Enabling sharing of facilities:
- The initiative, a component of New Education Policy (NEP), 2020 will enable sharing facilities of all schools in a cluster as all standalone schools do not have 100 per cent facilities in respect to sports, playgrounds, auditoriums, laboratories and human resource.
- It will be very useful for children in rural areas as the facilities not available in small independent schools will be accessible in cluster schools.
