What is the news?

• Himachal has been ranked second in sustainable development goals.

Why in news?

• NITI Aayog published the 3rd SDG India Index and Dashboard 2020-21.
• The index ranks Himachal and TamilNadu in second position after Kerela with 74 points.
• This comprehensive index has ranked States and UTs in achieving their SDGs since its launch in 2018.
• Bihar’s score is 52 and Jharkhand’s 56 (not performing good states this year).

About the Index:

• The index was developed based on 16 identified objectives, which comprise social, environmental and economic parameters.
