Sub Topic: Smart Traffic Management system

 

What is the news?

• Five districts in Himachal will soon be equipped with a smart traffic management system, according to DGP Himachal Police.

 

Which of these districts?

• These 5 districts are: Mandi, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Bilaspur and Hamirpur.

 

How is this going to work?

• To fulfill the objective the Automatic Number Plate Recognization (ANPR) cameras will be installed, which uses optical character recognition on the images to read the license plate and track its vehicle.
• Drones will also be purchased to monitor traffic violations and criminal activity.

Sub Topic: 7.91 lakh under health cover in state for HP health care scheme.

 

What is the news?

• The Himachal government brought 7.91 Lakh families under the Ayushman Bharat and Himcare scheme till October 2020.

 

Who are the beneficiaries?

• Over four lakh government employees and pensioners are insured under Himachal Pradesh Swasthya Bima Yojana.
•   Approximately five Lakh families are eligible for the Ayashman Bharat scheme, which was deployed on 23 September 2018 in Himachal.

 

About Himcare Scheme:

The Himcare program began in January 2019 for those who did not qualify for the Ayushman Bharat program. As a result, 4.61 lakh  households were covered by this scheme.
