What is the news?
- The Indian Meteorological Office installed the first Doppler Weather Radar (DWR) in Himachal Pradesh?.

What is the purpose of DWR?
- To get more precise area-specific weather forecasts and warning for a particular place.
What is the Range of RADAR?
- The DWR will cover a Radial distance of 100km in all directions.
What are the benefits of DWR?
- It will help in forecasting purposes, especially for the short-range forecast (also called nowcasting).
What is Now Casting?
- Nowcasting is a weather forecasting on mesoscale (short scale) up to 2 hours as per World Meteorological Organization.
Two other Proposed Districts:-
- Himachal government is planning two more such radars to be installed in Mandi and Dalhousie, district Chamba.
What is the RADAR?
- Radio Detection and Ranging (RADAR), is a system which is based on the technique of Electromagnetism.
- Electromagnetism is used to detect the location and distance of an object from the point where the Radar is placed.
- Radar radiates energy into space and monitors the reflected signal from the object.
Example: Detecting an aircraft of the missile in the sky.
Where is the Doppler Effect used?
- To measure the range and location of the moving objects, the Doppler Effect is used.

- Himachal Pradesh government launched domestic Liquid Fertilizer for farmers and horticulturists.
Who is involved?
- It is a joint venture of Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing and Consumers Federation (HIMFED) and, Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd. (GSFC), under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.
Types of fertilizers introduce in Himachal:-
- Liquid Boronated Calcium Nitrate
- Calcium Nitrate
- Nutri Plus
- Ammonium Sulphate
- Boronated Calcium
Why Liquid fertilizer?
- Earlier, Liquid Fertilizers were imported from other countries. But Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd. had made Bharat Atmanirbhar Bharat in this aspect.
What are Fertilizers?
- Fertilizers are both organic and inorganic compounds, which are used in fields and gardening to help crops, vegetables, fruits and flowers to grow healthy.
- They can be in solid and liquid form both, mixed with soil to increase its fertility and capacity to obtain a healthy outcome.
- Fertilizers are added to the soil as per its requirement. Under dose and overdose, both are not good.
