Himachal HPAS CSAT

CSAT Meaning:

  • The full form of CSAT is the Civil Services Aptitude Test. It was introduced as a part of the Himachal Pradesh Public Civil Services Exam (Preliminary) to test the analytical skills, reasoning ability and aptitude of HPAS aspirants.

 

HPAS CSAT SYLLABUS AND STRATEGY FOR HPAS PRELIMS:

  • The Prelims will consist of two objective type papers (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum of 400 marks (200 marks each)
  • The duration of Papers 1 and 2 (General Studies and CSAT) will be two hours each.
  • CSAT is just a qualifying paper.
  • CSAT(Paper-II) is only a qualifying paper and a minimum of 33% qualifying marks are required to be eligible for clearing the HPPSC Preliminary Exam.

Syllabus (CSAT PAPER 2): 200 marks with 100 Questions (Qualifying Nature)

  • Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  • Decision making and problem-solving
  • General mental ability
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level).
  • English Language comprehension skills (Class X level).

 

HPAS CSAT Pattern of Marking:

  • The HPAS CSAT paper consists of 100 questions which the candidate has to finish in the allotted time of 120 minutes only.
  • Each question carries 2 marks in the HPAS CSAT paper making the total to 200 marks.
  • Candidates must remember that there is negative marking in the HPAS CSAT paper.
  • For every incorrect answer, the candidate is penalised 1/3rd of the total marks allotted to that question, i.e., 0.66 marks will be cut.
  • If a question is not attempted, i.e., the candidate leaves it blank on the OMR sheet, no marks .

If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer even if one of the given answers happen to be correct and there will be same penalty as above for that question.
