What is the news?
- Punjab’s Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, virtually launched a “DigiNest” mobile app on Wednesday to give people access to the state government directory, which can be synchronized with a smartphone.
How?
- The Chief Minister has also put in place an on-line advertising order system for Punjab to increase the transparency and efficiency of the advertising process and state payments to the media.
- The system, would help streamline the process of issuance of advertisements and release of payments.
Benefit:
- Two initiatives would be instrumental in building synergy between the Public Relations Department and relevant stakeholders.

What is the news?
- Punjab police will soon be equipped with Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) to tackle the perpetrators of crimes against women.
How it will work?
- SARTs will be established in every district. Its staff will be made up from the sanctioned strength in a revenue-neutral manner, which means without putting any financial burden on the exchequer, by re-designating the post of Sub-inspector.
- The restructured police force, with 716 new critical posts against 820 existing non-essential or vacant ones, will focus on the core areas of women’s safety, counterterrorism, crowd control and anti-riot measures.

What is the news?
- 22,000 schools covered by the ‘100 Day Campaign’
- As part of the ‘100 days campaign’, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, Punjab achieved the target of providing safe pipe water supply to all schools for drinking, hand washing, toilet use and cooking of midday meals.
Important:
- Progress was highlighted at the Prime Minister’s review meeting of Jal Jeevan Mission.
Target:-
- A government spokesman stated that the departments of water supply and sanitation, and school education had covered 22,322 schools, including 17,328 government and 4,994 private schools. The work to provide similar connections in all anganwadis state was ongoing and was expected to be completed within 100 days.
