What is the news?
- e-Sanjeevani OPD hub at IGMC, Shimla draws a lukewarm response.
- The e-Sanjeevani OPD hub at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) isn’t getting the desired response from patients.
Purpose of Scheme:-
- At a time when COVID cases are rising in the state and the government has officially admitted that the virus has entered the community spread stage, why would people not use the facility and avoid going to hospitals?
Reason for Lukewarm response:-
- Also, patients suggest the hospitals should install electronic boards outside the OPDs where their token number should be displayed.
- Since no one knows when his/her turn will come, everyone stays around in a cramped space waiting for the call.
- If it is displayed, people will disperse and return when they are likely to see the doctor.
About e-Sanjeevani:-
- The state had created e-OPD hubs in three medical colleges of the state — IGMC, Tanda and Mandi — during the lockdown to help people access medical consultation through an e-Sanjeevani portal without having to visit the hospital.
- The facility is useful for patients who need to visit the hospital for follow-ups. At least they should use it and avoid coming to hospitals.

What is the news?
- Linking education with job new policy’s aim.
How?
- Under the NEP, skill development will be integrated into the course curriculum to increase the employability as linking education with employability is the prime focus of the new policy.
Challenges:-
- The three main challenges for the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) are curriculum, infrastructure(due to tough topography, harsh and diverse weather conditions and high cost of development in hilly areas) and skilled resource development.
Current Status:-
- As prescribed in the NEP, the pre-primary classes were already started in primary schools and the enrollment had breached the 50,000-mark and enough groundwork had been done to introduce Sanskrit from Class II.
