 News: -A Harvard University study burning provides analysis of the stubble burning issue.

 

The study conducted:-

• A study carried out by the Department of Earth and planetary sciences of the Harvard University has revealed that due to the policy of delaying of paddy sowing, the farmers burn the stubble.
• They do so to prepare the field for the sowing of the Rabi wheat crop.
• The study has also found that the peak fire intensity of the post-monsoon burning season in Punjab has shifted by more than 2 weeks between 2003 and 2016, with a 40% increase in overall intensity of fires.
• Also, meteorological conditions in late autumn to winter season favour smog formation in Indo-Gangetic plains.

 

So, the level of pollution is likely to go up in the winter season.

 

Solutions recommended by the study:-

• Shifting towards less water-intensive crops and diversification of agriculture.
• Incorporating wheat seeds with rice residue can also remove the issue of burning.

• It targets the youth population, especially so that their energies could be positively utilised.
• A New Delhi based marketing firm MSL was roped in for this purpose.

• To make the 550 the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, elaborate arrangements are being made by the government.
• Swiss and traditional type tents are being organised in large areas for providing a good experience to the tourists.

ਅਧਿਐਨ ਕੀਤਾ: -
ਹਾਰਵਰਡ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਇੱਕ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਖੁਲਾਸਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਝੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਰੀ ਦੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਪਰਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਉਹ ਹਾੜੀ ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਫਸਲ ਦੀ ਬਿਜਾਈ ਲਈ ਖੇਤ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਧਿਐਨ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਨਸੂਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੇ ਜਲਣ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਗ ਦੀ ਤੀਬਰਤਾ 2003 ਅਤੇ 2016 ਦਰਮਿਆਨ 2 ਹਫ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਅੱਗ ਦੀ ਸਮੁੱਚੀ ਤੀਬਰਤਾ ਵਿਚ 40% ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਪਤਝੜ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਰਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਥਿਤੀਆਂ ਇੰਡੋ-ਗੈਂਗੇਟਿਕ ਮੈਦਾਨੀ ਇਲਾਕਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਧੂੰਆਂ ਬਣਨ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ.




ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਰਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਦਾ ਪੱਧਰ ਵੱਧਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਹੈ.
