News:-Cyclists at ‘top of the world’ with the message of cleanliness.

Shiven of Manali reaches Komic village in Spiti from Tabo in 3.25 hours.

Context:-Carrying the message of cleanliness and promoting eco-tourism in the Spiti valley, a group of 11 cyclists travelled the 65-km distance from Tabo to reach Komic, Asia’s highest village in Spiti.

Who organised this?

The event was organised by the Enroute Spiti MTB Challenge and the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation to promote eco-tourism and cleanliness campaign.

News:- Boom in Himachal’s agricultural economy.

Scheme:- The Kisan Krishi Vikas Yojana of the Central Government is being implemented to increase the income of farmers, facilitate storage and market and implement the schemes according to the needs of local farmers

Features:-

Under the scheme, the state has prepared district agriculture schemes for the first time to ensure the development and expansion of agricultural activities. Apart from this, the State Agriculture Plan has also been prepared so that the overall development of agriculture can be done in a planned manner. Horticulture, animal husbandry and fisheries departments have also been linked to this scheme.

Other Initiatives for agriculture:-

The Country Agriculture Department is providing free soil testing facility to farmers under the Soil Testing Scheme of the Government of India so that they can increase the production of their crops as per the recommendations of experts.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Bima Yojana is also being implemented so that farmers can be covered against natural calamities, pests and diseases due to damage to major crops.
The National Mission for Agricultural Extension and Technology is also being implemented in the state with the main objective of spreading dissemination mechanisms and technology through farmers.
