Dattatreya swore in as the 27th Governor of Himachal. Pradesh

 

Oath or affirmation by the Governor:-

  • Every Governor and every person discharging the functions of the Governor shall, before entering upon his office, make and subscribe in the presence of the Chief Justice of the High Court exercising jurisdiction in relation to the State, or, in his absence, the seniormost Judge of that Court available, an oath or affirmation in the given form.

News:-90 cyclists register for MTB Himalaya.

 

Context:-As many as 90 riders from 15 countries, including India, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, USA, Germany, UK and Nepal, will participate in the 15th edition of Hero MTB Himalaya which will be flagged off from Shimla on September 26.

 

Important facts:-

  • Hero MTB Himalaya marks 15 years of organising MTB events in India
  • Race to begin from Shimla and finish in Bir Billing, covering 500kms in 7 days
  • Top World Champions from UK, Belgium, Canada, Australia part of rider lineup this year.

News:-Rare surgery in Mandi hospital.

 

Context:-

  • Doctors of Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College at Nerchowk in Mandi has conducted abdominal Colposacropexy surgery of one female patient successfully on August 30.
  • The surgery was conducted under the leadership of Dr Poojan Dogra Mahvah. Apart from this Dr BR Sharma, Dr Rina Sharma, Dr Sunil and Dr Shalini were in a team to conduct the surgery successfully.

 

Why important?

  • It was for the first time in the state that the surgery was conducted successfully in any government hospital.
  • That itself showed the capability of our doctors & need good healthcare infrastructure.

News:-Solan has Mushroom City tag, yet Himachal lags behind three states in production.

 

Context:-

Even as the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR)-funded Directorate of Mushroom Research, Solan, celebrated its 22nd commemoration day today for being declared as the Mushroom City of India, the state lags behind at the fourth position in mushroom production.

 

Purpose of this fair:-

  • The mushroom fair showcased the latest technologies developed by the directorate which included cultivation technology of the most-prized medicinal mushroom, bottle cultivation technology of winter mushroom and improved varieties of oyster, shiitake and paddy straw mushrooms

 

Important for facts:-

  1. Six farmers were honoured for adopting innovative technologies and contribution made to mushroom production
  2. They included two from Himachal
  3. Anil Thakur from Mamlig in Solan district produces 250 kg mushroom daily
  4. Prithi Chand from Hamirpur district has been into this venture since 1998 and has employed 20 people. He produces 90 kg of mushrooms daily
  5. The state has only two mushroom units. These produce  4,500 tn/pa.
