News:- TRAMADOL painkillers banned due to its misuse.
- The Food and Drg Administration(FDA) has banned the chemists from selling the painkillers Tramadol & Tapentadol.
- Some reports have cited that they are misused by some addicts.
- This drug will be allowed to sell in the vicinity of hospitals and by some listed Chemists.
- The retail dealers would not able to stock more than 500 tablets of these medicines.
- Though Physcharatist has opposed the ban as they are complaining that some of the effective drugs are being banned by the government without much research.
About TRAMADOL:-
- Tramadol is similar to opioid (narcotic) analgesics.
- It is used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain.
- It can be taken both orally and through injection.
- It works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain.
- It is more potent than codeine medicine and it may be habit-forming also(Codeine belongs to a class of medications called opiate (narcotic) analgesics and to a class of medications called antitussives).
- It’s more than use can cause side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision and various sleep disorders.
World Response:-
- Cycling’s world governing body, the UCI(The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), has announced its own ban despite the drug not being included on the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) prohibited list.
