Topic: Chamba Homestay Wins Award for Responsible Tourism

What is the news?

  • The Outlook Indian Responsible Tourism Awards (IRTA)-2023 gave the “Gold Award” to NotOnMap H2O House in the Sustainable Leadership Homestay category. This house is in the village of Chaminoo in the district of Chamba.

Who organized this award?

  • The award ceremony was held in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. Twenty states from all over the country were there. K Ramachandran, who is in charge of tourism in Tamil Nadu, gave the award to Renu Sharma, who owns H2O House, and Manuj Sharma, who helped start NotOnMap.

Where it is located?

  • H2O House is at the point where the Sal and Hul nullahs meet. This is about 12 km from the historic town of Chamba. It is run with the help of people in the community and self-help groups.

 

What NotOnMap H2O House is for:

  • NotOnMap is working to promote responsible, sustainable, and community-based tourism in rural areas so that people can find ways to make a living.

Topic: Him Ganga Scheme Will Bring Milk Revolution

  • PAPER-VI: GENERAL STUDIES-III: UNIT III: Concept of Eco-Tourism and green tourism and their role in the sustainable development of the State.

 

What is the news?

  • Him Ganga scheme will be started to increase the income of farmers in the state. This scheme will be Rs 500 crore. New milk processing plants will be established and upgraded under the Him Ganga scheme.
  • In the first phase, this scheme will be run in some districts. 44 mobile van services will be started for better services in veterinary hospitals. Groups will be formed for startups to protect the interests of farmers.

About Him Ganga Yojana 2023:

  • Him Ganga Yojana 2023 has been launched by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. Through this scheme, the income of the animal herders and farmers of the state will be improved.
  • Milk-based economy will be developed through the Himganga scheme.
  • Under this scheme, milk will be bought by the government from the farmers and cattle rearers at a good price. Due to this the farmers will be able to get the right price of milk and the system of purchase and distribution of milk will also improve.
  • In the first phase, the Himganga scheme will be started in some districts of the state. If the scheme is successful, it will be implemented in the entire state.
  • Under Him Ganga Yojana, it will be started on the basis of the pilot project by connecting farmers and cattle rearers. Apart from this, new milk processing plants will be set up in the state to make the Himganga scheme a success. Due to this quality improvement can be brought in the system of milk procurement, processing and marketing.
