What is the news?
- Globally threatened bird grey-crowned prinia spotted at Himachal’s Kunihar.
Why important?
- It has been spotted for the first time in the state in upper Sakor village of Kunihar tehsil.
About Bird:
- A contrasting blue-grey crown, thin bill, prominent supercilium contrasting with dark eye stripe and lores and warm rufous upperparts were clearly seen, which confirmed it as grey-crowned prinia.
- Although the bird was sighted previously in Uttarakhand, this is the first record of this bird having been sighted in the state and also its northmost range extension in India.

1) Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur formally dedicated the second University of Himachal Pradesh at Mandi today by inaugurating two blocks of the University constructed by spending an amount of Rs. 16.18 crore.
- Established in the name of Sardar Patel University Mandi, more than 141 government and private colleges of Mandi, Kangra, Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu districts have been included under this state university.
- Formation of Himachal Pradesh, the first State University was established in Shimla on 22 July 1970.
2) The Avishkar Foundation, Solapur, Maharashtra, declared the Avishkar Achievers Award-2022 felicitating personalities in different categories across the country.
- The Best Nation-Builders Teacher Award has been given to Flying Officer Dr Chaman Lal Kranti Singh, an assistant professor-cum head, department of journalism and mass communication, Vallabh Government College, Mandi.
3) A five-gear e-bike with five gears has been developed at the PD (Product Development) Lab of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (Triple IT), Una. The special thing is that this battery-powered e-bike can run 40 to 50 kilometers by charging in just 90 minutes. This bike is constantly being upgraded and added on behalf of many feature trainees.
