What is the news?

  • The CM presided over the “Nari Tu Narayani”, a program organized by a state vernacular newspaper in Shimla today.

 

Purpose:

  • To honor the women achievers of the State, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that empowering women were vital for all-round development of the society as one cannot even imagine of a vibrant society without active involvement of women.

 

What CM shared:

  • The Chief Minister said that Sahara Yojna has been a blessing to the families with a critically ill patient. He stated that the main objective behind this project was to provide financial support to families with such patients. He said the state government was equally committed to empowering women. He said that several schemes have been started in the State to ensure the empowerment of women and mark their presence in all the socio-economic activities. He said that Women Self Help Groups were also doing a commendable service in strengthening the economy of the women.
  • Jai Ram Thakur said that under the Mukhya Mantri Swabalamban Yojna women entrepreneurs were being provided a subsidy of 35 per cent to start their own self-employment ventures or startups.
  • CM said that under the Shagun Yojna Rs. 31,000 were being provided to girls of BPL families at the time of their marriage. He said that there was almost no field where the women have not made their presence felt. He expressed hope that all these women achievers would motivate other women to excel in their life.

Chief Minister also released Coffee Table Book on ‘Himachal-The Energy Powerhouse’ brought out by the Media House.

What is the news?

  • Deputy Commissioner, DC Rana on Thursday launched drone service in Chamba district for works related to disaster management and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping.
  • DC said that four personnel from the Police Department, civil defense and DDMA were imparted training in drone operation for 15 days.

 

How it will help?

  • The service would prove beneficial for relief and rescue work and for GIS mapping under DDMA in the district, he said.

 

How it will work?

  • Announcement facility is also available through a megaphone, along with the facility of night vision in the operation of the drone, which is capable of carrying a payload up to 750 gm for 5km.

 

What is GIS mapping?

  • GIS is an acronym for geographic information system. It’s a specific type of mapping technology that allows you to layer data tied to geographic points. Rather than seeing just a few key features on a static map, GIS mapping allows you to view customizable combinations of data layers in a dynamic tool.
  • GIS mapping helps you to visualize and identify patterns that are difficult to see if the data elements are in table format. It also helps to identify patterns that emerge when you view two or more datasets together. (Source:buxtonco)

What is the news?

  • Shoolini University has crossed the landmark of filing 1,000 patents. This record has been achieved within a span of six years since the Intellectual Property (IP) Department of the university was created in 2016.

Important:

  • Out of 1000 patents, 549 are process patents and two process patents have been granted. Some of the important areas of patents are nanotechnology, multidrug resistance, water purification, novel antimicrobial compounds, anti-cancer molecules, fermented food and wine, robotics, phytomedicines, new drug delivery systems, a new approach to wastewater treatment, solar energy, automobile, novel construction technology, safety equipment, biopesticides, agriculture farm machinery and farm management.
